Alongside his work presenting the investigations on Countryfile, Tom hosts BBC Radio Four's environment show 'Costing the Earth' and reports for Panorama on rural and energy issues. The Heap family live in Warwickshire and outside of work Tom indulges in mountain biking, movie watching and log splitting.
Do you have a favourite spot in the countryside?
I don't really do favourites as our marvellous countryside has such a variety to offer which changes across the seasons. At opposite ends I like the rough wilderness of the Scottish Highlands and Islands and the intimate beauty of the Cotswolds.
What’s been your most memorable moment while making Countryfile? (On or off camera).
Confronting a feral horse owner wielding a sledgehammer, eating insects, barely surviving Boris Johnson's rally style driving in a rickety Landrover and Princess Anne telling me horse meat tastes "quite good actually" while standing next to her favourite mare.
What are you most looking forward to at BBC Countyfile Live 2017?
Meeting the audience and the live discussions.
