Picnic on the Village Green sponsored by O2
At the heart of the showground and close to the entrance is the Village Green. Here you can spread out your picnic blanket, catch up with friends and enjoy some traditional country entertainment.
Sit back and enjoy a daily programme of Brass and Silver Bands bringing you some well-known tunes with lots of oom-pah-pah! See the Wantage Silver Band, Amersham Brass Band, Witney Town Band and Oxford Cherwell Brass Band.
Grab a ribbon and let The mAy Team show you the ropes! There will be have-a-go sessions and maypole dancing displays throughout the day.
SCOTTISH COUNTRY DANCING
Reels and jigs galore and toe-tapping music that will make you want to join in!
Whether it’s sticks, hankies, bells or clogs - it’s all Morris. See the Abingdon Traditional Morris Dancers, Traditional Illmington Morris Men, Chipping Campden Morris Dancers and the Bampton Traditional Morris Dancers here.
CHILDREN IN NEED
Here you can also pose with Pudsey and join in with the Teddy Bear’s Picnic and story telling time!
The Croquet Association will provide a croquet area and will be on hand to share their tips.
Join O2 who will be providing a picnic seating area and lots of other exciting activities, all whilst discussing connectivity issues in the Countryside, including workshops with ‘Keep your kids safe online’ for parents and ‘POP app design’ for kids. A ‘Wear The Rose’ virtual reality experience where you can practice your tackles with the England Rugby team. You'll also have the opportunity to pick the brain of an O2 Guru for free advice and handy tech tips.
Plug your phone into the O2 campervan to charge up for free and get the kids hunting for gosling eggs to win chocolate goodies! Plus, don't forget to chill out in a deckchair and enjoy a complimentary ice lolly.
O2 are also providing connectivity for all our visitors through wifi hot spots dotted across BBC Countryfile Live and an improved mobile 4G connection plus a dedicated event App, available to download in advance of the show and at the event.
THE WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
Don't miss the WI - the UK's largest voluntary women's organisation - who will be holding live craft and cookery demonstrations in their marquee on the Village Green! There will also be opportunities for visitors to learn more about the WI and how to become a member - there's over 220,000!
Fear not! We may be heading for a rural idyll, but you’ll still have phone coverage, thanks to our sponsors, O2. As the official connectivity sponsor, they'll be providing free wifi and enhanced 4G coverage around the event, so that you can stay connected, out in the countryside.
